Practice Update

At Emerging Energy, we've safely given almost 2000 treatments since we reopened in May without any incident, and we continue to update our protocols according to best practices and new data.

**Given the rise of community spread in Rhode Island and New England, we will be implementing a few changes to our Acupuncture practice after Thanksgiving to keep our patients and our Doctors of Acupuncture safe. **

We will continue to provide in person, customized and comprehensive care, with a streamlined approach. The RI Department of Health considers us Essential Care Providers, and we know many of you do too. We are grateful to provide care for many health conditions from pain to anxiety, skin diseases, women’s health concerns, fertility, and much more.

**During the next couple of months, in most cases, we will be focusing our treatments on the front OR back**. While we may provide cupping or gua sha, your primary time with acupuncture needles will be spent on either your front or your back.

Often patients find it easier to relax on one side or the other, so we will take into consider a patient's preferences to give the most effective and restorative treatment possible. Acupuncture allows deep healing to take place through the nervous system and being in the most relaxed state possible helps achieve this goal. This is why we work hard to provide a calming environment at Emerging Energy.

Focusing your treatments on one side will limit the in person, face-to-face time we spend together in close contact and will also allow for more time in between patients to “air out” the rooms. It will not diminish your treatment as many points can be reached from either the front or the back, and you can expect to be in the office 60-75 minutes in most cases. You may also schedule a “mini acupuncture” treatment which is for patients who have been seen in the last month and involves a very brief intake, shortened treatment, and no cupping, gua sha, or additional points on the front or back. These visits are 45 minutes long. For more information about appointment types, see our [online][1] scheduling page.

In addition, during this time, facial points may be limited. We require masks in our office, and points under the mask will not be able to be needled.

Please help us keep our office safe!

Ways you can help:

* Fill out the Covid-19 Screener emailed to you prior to your appointment. Your appointment may need to be rescheduled depending on your answers.

* Use the Patient Update emailed to you before your appointment to fill us in on what has changed from the prior week, or your prior visit. This way, we can streamline the time we spend talking prior to your treatment.

* Keep your mask on during your entire visit. We have creative ways to make it more comfortable (even when face down), and we can also provide a surgical mask if necessary.

* Wear your mask when you’re in our building. The residents of 14 Imperial Place consist of elderly people and those with underlying health conditions, and we want to keep the environment safe for them. Please respect our building’s Mask requirements.

We look forward to safely keeping you healthier and happier this fall and winter.
